He works hard he's not afraid to roll up his each sleeve
He shares books with his wife and always marks her page
He makes a regular exchange with a boy his daughters age

His wife's stood by his side for twenty six years

There's one thing he's never been quite able to admit
So some nights he sneaks away looking for a little bit

Her only outlets have been weepy films and novels
Feels like her husband wouldn't touch her with a shovel

Then last summer she spent a lonely week down by the ocean
